Hola! Today I’m sharing 3 wardrobe essentials that will make a huge difference in your trip to London! Catch up on the rest of the London series here!
Footwear is arguably the most critical decision when traveling anywhere. On family vacations growing up, without fail, I was always the one wearing heels while walking 5+ miles a day whos feet would end up bleeding. Time and time again, each trip would result in my dad having to get me a sensible pair of shoes lol. Now that I am older and wiser, I have achieved the balance of comfortable & sassy shoes!
London is all about walking! Even with taking the tube every day, once we got to our destinations, we easily walked 6 miles a day. I switched back and forth between my golden goose sneakers, a pair of espadrilles, and a pair of sandals every day and had ZERO feet problems. No bleeding, no blistered heals. Even when wearing sensible walking shoes like these, its good to not wear the same shoes two days in a row to change up where the pressure is on your feet. My sister was shocked at how maturely I handled my footwear because of my track record lol.
We started our days pretty early since we wanted to get as much in as possible! So that meant a lot of hours without going back to the hotel. London weather can be unpredictable (we’ll get to the rain too). In the mornings it was anywhere from 55-65 degrees, so a jacket was definitely necessary when walking to an early breakfast. Later in the afternoon, we saw days that reached 75+ degrees, so outfits like this one with a flowy dress & second layer to take off are essential for making sure you are comfortable all day!
I’m sure this is the category you were waiting for. London is known for its rain, and that is why it is so strange that out of the 6 days we were there, we only had one afternoon of rain! That was extremely uncharacteristic lol. Unusual for London under normal circumstances, so pack your Burberry raincoat and an umbrella on the daily! We were so beyond ready for the rain, and we ended up not needing any of our wear lol. Sam even found a raincoat on Asos that folds up into itself and can be worn as a cute fanny pack lol. Essentials, people.
