How to Get your Skin Ready for Spring

Skin is one of my favorite topics when it comes to a season change. When getting ready for the sunshine, or even spring clothing, prepping your skin is essential. I have put together a few simple products that will get your skin glowing and out of the dull cold weather funk!

Minimizing Texture: The base of ALL pretty skin is a smooth surface, which is why exfoliation is the key component that needs to happen before any of the following products are added. Think about it- would you ever paint your uneven nails without filing them first? No. The end result is only as good as the base. My favorite exfoliant to get off the top layer of my skin is this Lemongrass Sugar Body Scrub from Beauty Counter. It scrubs away at the dead layer of skin without irritation, and it has a hydrating base made of sunflower oil so that it can replenish healthy oils while striping away the bad. A good friend of mine, Shelby, sells Beauty Counter products, so I get all of my products and questions answered from her. You can shop with her through this link.

Get the Glow: Next, after we have exfoliated, its time to brighten. I have had this Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask on deck for years now, and it NEVER lets me down. The cranberry extract which is an antioxidant that removes toxins from the skin, in combination with anti inflammatory turmeric extract will brighten and calm your skin like never before! I put this on both my face and chest to break through the dullness and give my skin a boost. I typically use masks at night, but one of my favorite things to do with this one is to use it in the morning before I put on my makeup if I have time. This mask will do wonders for your makeup like no primer can.

After exfoliating and masking, moisturizing is ALWAYS necessary! I linked my everyday body moisturizer which is from Victoria’s Secret in the scent Coconut Passion.

Next we have self tanners, which are 100% optional, but definitely produce the biggest result in your skin. I have done full posts on self tanner procedures before which is linked here, but the ones displayed below are my favorites and you cannot go wrong with any!

Decorate it: Last, but definitely not least, is this shimmery Body Fondant by Zoella. Let me just tell you, the name is perfect for exactly what it is because its basically a glowy skin topper. Fondant decorates a cake flawlessly and this stuff decorates you lol! Highlighted skin has been super in the past few years, but my biggest problem with it has always been that body highlights are either a chalky powder that just sits on the surface of your skin, or a shimmer oil which is just too heavy for me. This fondant is a perfect creation because it has a light whipped consistency, and just adds a hydrated glow to your skin. I have literally been putting this stuff all over my body (mainly my collar bones and shoulders) because it makes your skin look radiant and flawless- not to mention it smells like a sugar cookie! The scent is macaroon, but I get more of a sugar cookie vibe from it.

By using any of these products I promise your skin will be looking fabulous and sunshine ready! Let me know if you have any questions!
